Wow, I can’t believe it’s the beginning of December already! I’ve been waiting for this month forever (I’ve been in the Christmas mood for ages now) and there’s just something about December that finally makes it feel like Christmas has arrived. As I’ve only been blogging since March, this is my first Christmas in the blogosphere and I am very excited to be participating in Blogmas this year. I hope you all enjoy the festive content I’ve planned for you all!
What is Christmas?
Christmas to me is all about spending quality time with family, especially since it’s one of the only times we are all off work it’s a magical way to make the most of it. My mum has always been a big fan of Christmas which I think is why I love Christmas so much. My mum has always been the best person at gifts, they are always so special and so well thought about. She will spend hours wrapping them up and decorating them with bows and different tags.
I know that a lot of people have quite a negative view towards gifts at Christmas, but in all honesty, I don’t buy it. Yes, I am completely aware (and agree) that Christmas is definitely not all about gifts, but why should we be putting a negative outlook on this? Personally, I love hunting for little bits and pieces that my family and friends will love, and the look on their faces when they open presents just brings so much joy. Also.. who says gifts have to cost money? My little sister always makes some right little gems for no cost at all, which just goes to show gifts aren’t all about throwing money around, gifts are things that put an extra big smile on your loved ones faces (cheese or what- sorry!)
Christmas is a time for festive snacks, all the Home Alone films and the one time a year monopoly comes out to play (although if you’re anything like my family it usually ends up in tears and somebody storming out of the room. And it’s definitely not me…..). Christmas movie’s are in full swing, everyone’s singing along to Mariah Carey from the top of their voices and the whole house is just full of so much joy. For me, Christmas also means travelling to Leeds to see all the family before Christmas and this year we’re spending the weekend there which will be so much fun. I love this because it’s not very often we get to see everyone, and it’s another trip where the family get together which is always so special.
Above all else, is the very important Christmas dinner. I mean, I’ve been looking forward to Christmas dinner since boxing day last year.. and I’m not even exaggerating. The 25th of December is the day everybody in the nation eats as much as they want without being judged for it. You want another plateful of creamy mash potato? You go for it girl. Need another heap of pigs in blankets? Fill ya boots (or your plate maybe).
What is Christmas to you?
