Essentials for a cosy autumn day

October 19, 2017

It’s Autumn. It’s getting colder, the days are getting shorter (what is getting home from work in the dark all about?!) and for me, there is absolutely nothing better than a cosy day at home doing a whole lotta sweet nothing, especially at this time of year! I’ve put together a few pointers of what my essentials are for those cold autumn days at home..

Steal all the blankets

In my house, we’re blanket obsessed. We could make the biggest blanket fort ever with our collection (why have I only just thought of this..) and every single one is so soft and snuggly. When it gets to this time of year, you’ll always see me with a blanket or two because let’s be honest what’s better than being snuggled up in a blanket binge watching your current favourite series on Netflix? Not much in my eyes.

autumn clothing

Get in cosy clothes/pyjamas

Now we’re talking – Autumn is my favourite wardrobe as I love being warm and layered up. If I’m staying at home all day, I’ll either put on some fluffy pj’s (usually Christmas themed) and that’s me set for the day. If I do need to pop out, I’ll find a big cosy jumper, choose a scarf and put on my favourite boots – I love dressing for cold weather and I love the colours I start to wear at this time of year too. For me, there’s nothing better than layering up clothes so you’re all warm and toasty when going out.

hot chocolate

Make a big mug of Hot Chocolate

Get that giant tub of Galaxy Hot Chocolate out of the cupboard and find the biggest mug in the house. Don’t forget those marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles and whipped cream to go on top too. Mmmm. There’s something really warming about drinking a hot chocolate whilst being wrapped up with the fire on.

cosy bedding

Get out the snuggly bedding

I’ll hands up admit that I am one of those girls who likes lots of pillows on their bed. Ya know, the pillows that get thrown on the floor everytime you go to bed and never *actually* get used – but those kinda pillows are essential right? I love sleeping with blankets too, so when I saw this new bedding -eeeek- I just had to purchase it. If you love blankets like me, this will be your ultimate dream. I needed some new bedding anyway as I like heavier sheets for the colder months, so when I came across this fleeced bedding from Next, I knew I was having it the moment I laid eyes on it. I mean, fleeced bedding? A duvet blanket?? HEAVEN?? I can 100% confirm that this is the cosiest, snuggliest duvet cover I have ever owned and I don’t ever want to go back to normal bedding ever again. Complete with two blankets and one huge pillow at the back that’s almost the size of me, my bed is a little cosy haven.

Netflix, Netflix, Netflix and more Netflix

Yes, I am still bloody watching so put my episode back on because I totally can not be bothered to find the remote again under all these blankets, pillows and duvets. Do Netflix really think it’s necessary to ask this question? Netflix, hun, I’m here for the long run so can you please let me binge watch 10 episodes of Suits without making me feel guilty that I still haven’t done anything all day? I’m currently in the middle of two series and have a few on my list to start next, so binge watching is kinda my thing at the minute, plus they (Suits and The Originals) are so good to get your teeth into I’m always left wanting to watch more!

Are there any particular things you do for a cosy day in at home?

The “Oh Sh*t’s” of the Customer Service Role

October 5, 2017

Customer service based jobs can be a difficult yet very rewarding task. If you’ve ever worked in a customer service role, you’ll know that it is not a job, it’s a skill. And a bloody hard one to master at that. Personally, I feel you either have an inkling towards working with people or you don’t, and forcing this can end up in a total disaster. If you’ve never worked in retail or worked with customers, you have no idea about some of the “Oh sh*t’s” we go through all day every day. Well.. Let me enlighten you.

“Oh sh*t, not you again”

Unfortunately, there is always going to be a handful of customers you absolutely dread coming in. The ones who can talk for Britain; The ones who don’t talk at all; The ones who question everything you say; The ones who expect you to have a crystal ball at hand, ya know, the list goes on. The problem is, no matter how hard you try you’re always gonna love em.

“Oh sh*t, quick”

When you have a job that requires answering phones, you can guarantee as soon as you start to do something, that phone’s gonna ring. Every. Damn. Time. Fancy a cup of tea? Customer rings. Fancy a sweet? Customer rings. Need the toilet? You bet that customer’s gonna ring. The struggle is real. I quickly found that it is 100% not do-able to answer the phone with a whole pack of strawbs piece of fruit shoved in your mouth. I do eat healthy at work, I promise..

“Oh sh*t..”

Just.. oh sh*t in general really. There is never a dull moment working in a customer service role, and the amount of times a day this phrase must come out of my mouth is phenomenal. From forgetting to ring a customer back, to a customer thinking I have a magic crystal ball (unfortunately this isn’t the case, as much as I would love to have one), you bet I’ll be “Oh sh*t”-ing about something or other.

There are plentttty more where these come from, as you can imagine. Do you or have you ever worked in a customer service role?

Cars: What you need to know

October 2, 2017

Not my normal type of post, granted but seen as though a few of you said you’d like posts on the basics of cars, I thought I’d give it a go. I am by no means an expert on cars (I’ll probably get my dad to proof read this, thanks dad) but I feel like so many young people lack even just a basic knowledge on the vehicle’s they’re driving, purely because there just isn’t anybody telling them about it.. so this gals gonna give it a shot.

Cars can be expensive, frustrating and very difficult to understand at the best of times. Before I started working at a garage a whole two years ago, my knowledge on cars was really limited. By limited I mean, I knew what make of vehicle I was driving and I knew how to fill it up with petrol. That’s all you need to know.. right?

Not so right. Cars are like needy pets, they always require attention. Today I’ll go into detail about just how important it is to keep your vehicle serviced. Bare with me, I’ll try to make it as easy as possible!

Rose Gold Peugeot
My lil rose gold baby, isn’t she b-e-a-uuutiful

What is a Service?

A service is where a mechanic checks over your vehicle and changes the oil and the appropriate filters. Fluids in your vehicle are topped up and tyre’s are checked for wear and made sure they have the correct tyre pressure. It gives you a full picture of the vehicle, also advising on what work will need carrying out in the near future.

Why do I need to Service my vehicle when I have it MOT’d?

An MOT is almost like a basic snapshot of the safety of the vehicle. It makes sure that your car is safe for both you and other road users. In an MOT, the tester is NOT allowed to move anything, or take anything off the vehicle and all vehicles are put through the same test. A service is much more specific and thorough, as the mechanic will inspect brakes and all of the suspension parts, looking out for any noises or wear. The changing of the oil in your vehicle is one of the most important parts of your service. If your vehicle is not serviced and the oil has not been changed, it can cause some serious damage to your engine and turbo. The kinda damage you don’t wanna hear about. The breaking-the-bank kinda damage. Old oil = big no no.

How come on my MOT my brakes have only been advised, but the garage have said I need to get them done now?

This is a perfect example of why it’s important to have your car serviced as well as MOT’d. As I mentioned previously, the MOT tester is not allowed to take your wheels off to thoroughly check the brakes, so has to make a decision on just looking at them. In a service, the mechanic will accurately measure your brakes with the wheels removed and if they are under the minimum thickness, they will require changing.

Fortunately, I now know what car I drive, what fuel to put in her, AND why to service her!      (Yes, she is a her and she goes by the name of Polly..)

A general reason why some people choose to not service their vehicle is because they think they can save some money. True.. On a short-term basis. The Service also looks at things such as when timing belt’s are due, and these are big game changers in the world of cars. If your vehicle has a timing belt fitted, and these are not changed routinely, it’s possible that your timing belt can snap and then it’s.. well…… possibly end of car. Trust me when I then say that it’s a lot more to fork in out in one hit than it is in short bursts to service every year. Long term, servicing and maintaining your vehicle will increase it’s lifespan, and reduce the possibility of high cost when something goes wrong.

Did you know just how important servicing your vehicle was? Let me know if this has helped at all!

Favourite Bloggers

September 10, 2017

It’s not a surprise when I say there are so many bloody amazing bloggers out there, creating top notch posts for us all to indulge in to. I’m not sure about you, but as soon as I find a blog I love there’s absolutely no going back, I’m totally hooked. There’s a few recently that I just can not for the life of me keep my eyes off, and I thought I would grace you with their presence (or online presence, whatever you wanna call it) cause ya know, spreading positivity is what it’s all about am I right??

First of all, I want you all to go appreciate the lovely Sharna’s blog because this girl’s site is just amazing, paired with an absolute dreamy Instagram account. Sharna writes the most beautiful product reviews, enough to make anyone want to throw money at whatever she recommends (and I mean it, say good bye to that positive bank balance!). In all seriousness though, Sharna’s blog always makes me feel super girly, and you can never just read one post at a time! It’s mainly filled with beauty and lifestyle posts, which always make my heart feel very happy. You go glen coco♥

Next up is beauty queen and my favourite social media-er (this sounded so much more normal in my head but I’m gonna go with it anyway) Beth Louise.  Let me start with how absolutely hilarious she is over on her Instagram stories, whenever I see a little circle with Beth’s picture on, I get in my ~dressing gown~ and grab a cup of tea because you’re usually in for a long story that you can’t stop watching. Beth is so down to earth, and this completely reflects on both her blog and her social media. Beth has some great posts with tips in regards to blogging, which are really useful to learn!

Last but definitely not least is Lauren – who’s insta everybody dreams of having. I’m not even kidding, once you see her Insta for yourself you’ll be off buying heart shaped bowls and making delicious cupcakes in no time. You can see the time and effort Lauren puts in to all her photos and how much passion she has for taking them. I love the way Lauren writes her posts, it always draws me in to read more and her layout is just divine. I’d definitely recommend you have a scroll of her blog/insta, although I most certainly can’t promise you’ll spend -all day- peeking.. it really is that good.

I love finding new people to follow and hope you love these beauts just as much as I do. If you have any bloggers you just can’t get enough of – please let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to check them out!

See yas,

Confessions of a stubborn teenager

September 2, 2017

Me? Stubborn? Confessing I’m stubborn?! Who’d have thought we’d have seen this day. It all started at the beginning of August, ya know when the time comes and it’s time to set those monthly goals to reach, or in my case.. not to reach. I decided in my August Goals that I was going to try and post more regularly on my blog, which seemed pretty reasonable for a girl who lives her life by lists and routines. I don’t have a scooby-doo what happened, but posting regularly definitely didn’t happen. In fact, I probably posted less posts last month than I have in previous months which is highly frustrating.

Every time a new week came around, I was pressuring myself to make sure blog posts were written up and scheduled, which came around to bite me on the arse because I just could not force myself to write. I had no ideas, zilch, zero. Every post I wrote felt rushed, and I wasn’t happy with any of the content I was producing.

Believe to Achieve

I usually love making goals for myself, lists to complete, so I thought I would absolutely bomb my August goals but I didn’t. Somehow, it just didn’t work having a routine for my blog and after a few weeks of worrying what on earth has happened, I decided to stop being so stubborn. GASP. You heard, I’m no longer putting myself through endless hours of staring at a blank page, just so I can achieve my goal. It was painful. And boring. Man, being so stubborn can be such an inconvenience.

I feel like there’s so much pressure to post regularly because lots of successful bloggers have set days they post, but it’s important to remember that lots also don’t. If it works for you, then that’s great as it allows consistency for your blog, although it is definitely not the end of the world if it doesn’t work for you. I’ll be posting whenever I have a post ready (It’s always my aim to have at least 1 a week) and I’m the absolute worst at scheduling posts because as soon as my post is ready, there’s no way it’s sitting in my drafts for the next few week. Nah-ah.

Until next time,

SEO: Broken Links

August 25, 2017

SEO. A whole different language. A big language. Every bloggers nightmare huh? The amount of hours  days I have spent trying to get my head around SEO isn’t even worth bearing to think about, but it’s a lot. The most recent SEO term I’ve come across? Broken Links. Aahhh the joy I’ve had with this one.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with broken links, these are links that appear on your website that no longer work. Either they have been keyed in wrong, the page no longer exists.. the list goes on. I had heard of this term before, but I didn’t think it would really apply to me (lol – big mistake) as I’d only had my blog since March, so how many links could possibly be broken? I don’t even use that many links?! WRONG. 73 – Seventy Three – S.E.V.E.N.T.Y T.H.R.E.E WHOLE BROKEN LINKS ON MY BLOG. Who? What? Where? WHY? When?

The website I used to check for any broken links is A very handy tool for us bloggers! It was really simple to use, all you do is enter in your URL and some security numbers, and hey presto it searches your site for all those pesty broken links sitting in your site! Cool okay, so I’ve got a whole 73 broken links on my website. Ace. Now what…?! After hours sitting staring at a page I didn’t really understand, countless google searches and many frustrated tears, ya gal worked out how to fix these broken links. Sarah – 1, Broken Links – 0 (or 73, but I’d prefer to forget that).

broken link check

This is what your page will look like once you’ve pressed ‘Find broken links now !’. As you can see above, on the right hand side of your listed broken links, there is a ‘Page Where found’ section, and ‘Server Response’ section. (For security reasons, the website I have used I have blanked out- these sections will be filled in once you enter your site URL). These buttons are your best friend! If you click on ‘url’ button shown in blue, it will show you which page the broken link occurs on (src also shows you where in the coding it is, but I’m not smart enough to use that bit!). The Server Response shows you what the actual problem is. If you click on the problem (in this case, where the 404 appears), this will bring up a box like the one below showing you a list of what it means, and how your link is broken. Hallelujah!

link problems.jpg

The two response codes I received within my broken links are ‘404’ and ‘bad host’ – so they are the ones I will elaborate on and explain how I fixed them! The first one ‘404’, I checked the URL of the page using the button mentioned previously, and found which post the link was broken on. I opened up wordpress, opened up that particular post and found the link. When I clicked the Link (I had tagged another blog in My Liebster Award, who I believe has now deleted their blog as it is nowhere to be found) the link no longer worked! As I couldn’t find the new blog, I deleted the link altogether although if you can find a replacement page, you can replace it with a working URL. Hey Presto – no more broken 404 link!

The next one was slightly more tricky. ‘Bad Host’ Indicates that the link doesn’t exist. I had 71 of these, and they all came from bloggers who had commented on my posts and incorrectly entered their URL. It’s crucial that you don’t spend too long in a burning rage at these bloggers as I’m 100% sure they aren’t aware that they’re leaving a broken link – after all they have taken the time to respond to your post! But please, be my guest at taking a good minute raging at yourself before moving on to the next step.

Take a deep breath. This part requires patience! I will use my blog name as example whilst explaining this stage. Take your first broken link. You will see the blog name you need to find within the broken link. Find which post your broken link is on (again using the URL button explained earlier), and find the comment through your website. EDIT THE COMMENT. Make sure the link included in the comment reads !!! A lot of people who had left comments had missed out ‘www.’ before their blog name, which meant the link was broken. Annoying, right? Change them all. You will find that there are numerous broken links corresponding to one blog name, which would indicate they have left a number of comments on your blog. Go through each comment and make sure there is a full URL for each one. To test I had corrected the URL, I copied and pasted into a different tab and if the person’s blog came up I knew I had corrected the link. If it doesn’t work, just delete the link from the comment. You’ve tried, but there’s nothing more you can do. Bye Felicia.

If I haven’t explained this clearly enough, please message me and I will personally talk you through the last stage!

Andddd you’ve done it. You’ve fixed those broken links. You’re one step ahead on the SEO ladder. Give yourself a pat on the back because my god you’ve earnt one. I’m going to be checking my broken links every few weeks or so, and I’d recommend you do the same as it was quite a long process since so many had built up.

If you leave a comment on other people’s posts and leave your blog link, try to ensure you are leaving the full URL – including ‘http:www.’ before your blog name. I’m pretty sure I haven’t being leaving my full URL on posts.. please forgive me!! From now on, I’ll be aware of the URL I’m leaving so I don’t have to put any other bloggers through this tragic process. We could be making other bloggers lives much easier by doing this!!

If you’ve made it this far, then congratulations because that was one hell of a long, boring wordy post but I hope somewhere in all my ramblings, somebody can overcome those broken links on their website.

Instagram Pods: Real vs Fake

August 17, 2017

We’ve all seen the controversy between whether people believe being in an Instagram pod is ‘fake engagement’ or ‘real engagement’. Sure enough, the debate can be argued with valid points for both sides.. at the end of the day I honestly think it’s down to the user within the pods, and this is why..

For those of you who don’t have a single clue what I’m talking about, Instagram Pods are group chats consisting of up to 15 bloggers in each chat. Every time a blogger posts on Instagram, the chat is alerted and each member likes/comments on that photo. Let me tell you, it is bloody brilliant for engagement – that good that I Included it in my ‘Favourite Blogging Tools’ post!

Currently, I’m in various Instagram pods but the majority of them aren’t completely full. It is a lot of work to keep up with everybody’s posts, but I can honestly say that I love keeping up to date as everyone within the pods inspires me with their content. I’ve met so many lovely people through them and we now also support each other on different social media’s such as twitter.

So, where’s the negativity in all of this then? Well, from an outsiders point of view, we are merely liking and commenting on other people’s photo’s a little bit like robots, and that’s surely as bad as buying engagement right? NO!! As long as you are in a pod with like minded people, it is definitely not a chore to like their photo’s. Sometimes, I even find myself liking peoples photo’s and commenting before they post in to the chat!! I’ve found so many idea’s and taken so much inspiration from these accounts that I love being informed when they’re posting. Due to the nature of the photo’s, I also find it incredibly easy to comment on their pictures as it’s something I would usually express an interest in anyway!

I can completely understand why people think Pods are fake engagement if the users are posting completely different content or purely in them for the likes (which is so wrong but most likely happens), however all I have ever experienced from Pods is engagement with so many lovely people and tonnes of inspiration – what’s so bad about that?! I would also like to add that, in the Pods I am involved with, we also chat to each other and ask questions to help each other within the community – so it’s not all about liking someone’s pictures!!

I’m not going to lie and tell you this post isn’t biased, because I’m most definitely in favour of supporting other blogger’s through Instagram Pods. I think it’s important to remember before shaming somebody that’s in a pod, to understand why they are in it!

Are any of you in a Pod? Let me know what you think about it all!

A blogging break

August 16, 2017

It seems like a lifetime since I last posted.. life seems to have just got in the way the past few weeks. I’m actually a little bit annoyed as if you didn’t see in my August Goals post, my aim was to be posting twice a week on the regular. I didn’t even make the first week – damn. I have although, achieved 2,000 (two whole thousand) followers on twitter, I’ve been actively eating breakfast and I’m halfway through my third book, so I guess you could say I’m not doing too bad.

Over the past two weeks whilst I haven’t being posting, I’ve also been a little quiet on social media. After being seemingly shadow-banned (Insta, I still hate you), I decided to give myself a break from the blogging world whilst I took two weeks out to spend time with some friends. I went abroad for a week which was amazing, and then spent this week at home with friends doing things I never get to do now I work full time. It was exactly what I needed. Everyday I found myself wondering what was going on in the blogging world, I found myself thinking up new posts and the idea of returning back to blogging was pretty exciting.

Today I seem to have found my motivation again and have edited/scheduled a couple of blog posts. I know this is a super short post but I thought I’d update you on why I’ve been a bit quiet lately, and that I’m definitely going to be back bigger and better starting from today.

Have you ever taken a break from blogging? Let me know how it went!

August Goals

July 27, 2017

Is there anyone else that thinks this year is just going crazily fast? I have no idea where on earth July disappeared to, but I’m excited to be going into August very soon. I’ve got a lot planned next month, so I decided it was best to set myself some monthly goals as it’s so easy to get swallowed up and not focus on what you’re wanting to achieve.

Start eating breakfast

A slightly weird goal, but one I’ve been meaning to get round to for a while. Everyone I speak to says that I should be eating breakfast in the morning, and if I’m honest the only reason I don’t have it is because I’m purely too lazy to get myself out of bed earlier. I love breakfast foods, and more often than not I wake up hungry so it would definitely be a good meal for me to have. The first two weeks of August I’m not at work, so hopefully this will help me get into a routine of eating breakfast so that when I’m back at work, I actively want to get out of bed to eat some breakfast!

Post Regularly

I decided recently that I will be scheduling my blog posts so that I will be posting every Monday and Thursday. When I first started blogging, my posts were just whenever I decided to upload and I realised that it would be much more organised if I had set days. This way, not only will you guys know when to expect a post, but also it means I can organise myself and have a bit more routine in the way of blogging (and for me, routine is a must!). I will be so happy if I manage to keep this going all throughout August!

Although I set myself this goal regularly, it’s one I only seem to achieve when I set my mind to it. I read books really easily, and when I start I don’t stop so my books don’t last me any longer than a night (which is a nightmare as it means reading costs a lot on a regular basis!). I’m yet to start ‘Wilde Like Me’ and I’ve ordered some more that will be coming this week so I’ve got 6 books to keep me going so far!

Reach 2,000 followers on Twitter

Not a particularly important goal, but one I would love to reach anyway. I’ve been working hard on my twitter, promoting my posts and engaging with loads of other bloggers and I can honestly say it’s really paying off. I’m seeing my followers go up every day which is absolutely amazing, so I’d love to reach the 2k mark next month! I’m around 100 followers away from this goal.. you know what to do guys!

“The ultimate reason for setting goals is to entice you to become the person it takes to achieve them” – Jim Rohn

Hopefully I can stick to these goals, and I’m so excited to see what August has in store for me. Are there any goals you’ll be hoping to achieve next month?

P.S. Find out how I did with these goals here!

Liebster Award 2

July 24, 2017

Another nomination for this award feels amazing!! A massive thank you to Sofia for the nomination – you can check out her lovely blog here. I only recently posted my first Liebster Award however all nominations are so different so I didn’t see any harm in posting again!

My questions from Sofia are as follows:

1) How are you?

I’m actually really good thank you! I only have two weeks left of work until my holiday, and then I’m taking a week off to spend some time with my best friends whilst they’re home from university so I’m super excited for that. In general, everything seems to be going my way! (Probably just jinxed everything now though)

2) How many siblings do you have?

I have one little sister called Amber who’s a couple of years younger than me. She’s definitely very annoying at times but you’ve got to love them! She’s very into the youtube world so you’ll probably see her around at some point!

3) What is your dream car?

Ok without a doubt this has to be a Tesla. The engineering and the advance in technology just absolutely baffles my mind. The whole concept of the car is on a whole new level and I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of these in the future. The hard part would be choosing between the Model X and the Model S though.. I’ll stick with my little Peugeot for now!

4) What inspired you to write a blog?

I’ve always had an interest in writing and when I was younger I used to write my own books (although they did end up in the bin) and used to just write whenever I could. I loved reading so many different blogs and I think it’s such an interesting way to write as you can allow people to know so much about your personality. As soon as I started this little blog I knew I would love it, it felt like I was doing something that came so naturally to me!

5) Do you believe in God?

This is a really difficult question for me to answer and whenever I speak about this topic with my family we usually end up speaking for hours, debating each side. I have been Christened and I did used to go to Church when I was younger, although I just don’t have full belief of something I can’t understand. On the other hand, I also don’t believe the Scientific explanation of how the world started, so I’m kind of inbetween. I’d like to think there’s somebody up there watching over us all!

6) What is your favourite series at the moment?

I finished The Vampire Diaries and am currently watching the Originals and I love it. Last night, I realised that Netflix had added more series of ‘Suits’, which I was absolutely obsessed with so that’s probably going to be what I’m watching for the next few weeks!

7) Any vacation plans this summer?

I’m going to Spain with Poppy in two weeks time, which I absolutely can’t wait for as I’m in desperate need of a holiday!! I’ve been on a few little holidays this year so it will be a nice little break.

8) What country do you live in?

I live in England, in a tinyyy little village in the middle of nowhere. It’s fine now that I can drive but it was an absolute nightmare before I passed my test!

9) Least favourite Disney film?

Least favourite? You mean people don’t love every disney film?! I don’t actually think I can answer this question because there isn’t a film I can think of that I don’t like!

10) Number 1 thing on your bucket list?

To visit New York. I would absolutely love to visit New York it looks like a dream, plus Ice Skating in Central Park is my idea of perfect. It would have to be a Christmas visit though, and I’d probably come back skint from buying so much!

11) Are you still in school? If so what are you studying?

Unfortunately I’m not still in school, however much I would love to go back. I left 2 years ago after finishing my A-Levels, and I never realised how much I would miss it. It’s such a strange feeling spending every day with people and then going off down your own path!

I would like to nominate some of my new followers:

Georgina –

Darcy –

Chloe –

Lauren –

Jasmine –

Bella –

Eden –

Samantha –

Lauren –

Olivia –

My 11 questions are:

Where is your favourite place to eat?

What’s your favourite thing about the blogging community?

Is there a destination you would love to visit?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

If you could choose anybody’s wardrobe, whose would it be and why?

Is there a particular blogger who inspires you?

Who’s your favourite artist/band?

What would your dream job be?

Do you have any plans for summer?

What’s your favourite cocktail?

Do you have any personal blog goals you are aiming to achieve?

To everyone who read my first Liebster award, I’m so sorry If you’re fed up of reading about me..!

The Perfect Gifts

July 16, 2017
I don’t know about you, but the thought of having to buy gifts is very stressful for me, everyone likes different things and it’s always nice to know that somebody is going to love what you get for them. I like to put a lot of thought in to gifts that I buy for people as I think it makes it more special, and that’s why I tend to personalise things or tailor presents to the specific person. Uncommon Goods is a website selling personalised gifts for a range of occasions.
What I particularly like about this company is they are doing everything right in terms of their company ethics; they do their best to eliminate anything tested on animals, plus use recycled paper for their catalogues! I’ve had a look through their website and there are a few ranges I want to share with you as gift ideas for your loved ones.
The Babyshower Range
This range is my favourite to browse through as there are so many lovely personal gifts in this range and I also love babies so much I would just like to buy everything because it’s all so cute. A family member recently has just had a little boy and I loved going out and buying things for him, there’s so much from this range I will be looking into purchasing!
The Perfect Gifts: Book
This particular gift caught my eye from this range as I know firsthand what it’s like going from an only child to all of a sudden having a sibling. Although it is such a lovely feeling, it’s a bit odd when all the attention suddenly goes elsewhere. I think this is such a lovely thought as it also includes an older sibling and makes them feel special whilst having a book to read to the new baby.
The only anniversary I would really consider buying a present for is my parents, which is coming up very soon. Again, I like to link presents to the actual day and make it a special reminder which is why the present I’ve found from this range is absolutely perfect. When my mum and dad got married, they had a wine box engraved with lyrics of their wedding song which I know they have still kept and that it is something treasured by them.
The Perfect Gifts: Wine Boxes
These wine boxes are perfect as it gives them three opportunities to have a sit down with a drink and remember their day, as I know this present will trigger back memories! Also in this range, there are so many gifts that you can personalise to tailor towards the loved ones you are buying for!
Got a wedding anniversary slowly creeping up on you? Click here to shop the anniversary range

There are many different occasions you can buy for on this website, (little gifts for bridesmaids etc, which is another range I really love from this site) that makes life so much easier! I will definitely be keeping this website on my hit list for future purchase.

Lots of love,

S x

Liebster Award

July 12, 2017

Thanks to Georgia, I have been tagged in the Liebster award tag to answer 11 questions she has put together for me. I love these types of posts because you always get to know more about each other which I think is important as I love to know more about the writer behind each blog post! The 11 questions I have been given are:

When you were younger, what did you want to grow up to be?
I always wanted to be a pilot when I was younger. Every time we went on holiday I would spend all my time at the airport looking out for Pilots and I thought they had the coolest jobs on the earth. As I grew up, I quickly realised just how much of an important job it was, and that it was a lot of pressure I really couldn’t put on myself. (In other words, I’m a complete chicken).
Coke or Pepsi?
Ooh definitely Coke. It has to be full fat Coke though because Diet Coke just doesn’t do it for me.
If you were to plan a 3 course meal, what would it be?
This is a very hard question for a girl who doesn’t stop eating. I think I would do something along the lines of a meat and bread platter for starter, spaghetti carbonara for main finished with a chocolate brownie and honeycomb icecream!
What’s your favourite colour?
I honestly don’t really have a favourite colour but if I had to pick one I’d say blue as it’s a colour I seem to be reaching out to wear recently.
What is your go to song?
Oh man really? There are so many songs depending on which particular mood I’m in. I’d say at the moment the song I love listening to is ‘Thumbs’ by Sabrina Carpenter, which you definitely need to listen to!
What has improved since you started your blog and what do you wish to improve?
My theme and layout has definitely improved, I’m liking the look of my blog at the moment however something I really hope to improve on are my photographs. I constantly look at other bloggers and wish I was as creative and that way inclined!
What is your favourite film scene?
Definitely Greece – The end Scene ‘You’re the One that I Want’ where Sandy turns up looking bomb asf. I used to watch Greece on repeat when I was younger and act this out so I couldn’t not choose this scene!
If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
It would 100% be Adele. I think she’d crack me up every 5 minutes and she seems so down to earth!
What was the last book you read?
Scarlett Moffatt – Scarlett Says. This book had me howling and I would definitely recommend it for a good giggle!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
I think I must’ve been quite fortunate because there isn’t one particular moment that really stands out. I guess when I first started waitressing, on my second shift I spilt gravy ALL down this lady and was that embarrassed I went and cried in the back room and didn’t even tell anybody. The lady was really nice about it but she was probably saying that it was fine through very gritted teeth. Oops.
What is your favourite piece of clothing?
I seem to have become particularly attached to my Denim Jacket recently, I wear it most days so that would probably get my vote as my favourite!
The questions for the bloggers I have nominated are:
What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without?
If you could live abroad, where would it be and why?
What would your dream job be?
What advice would you give to new bloggers?
If you could choose any celebrity to be a family member, who would it be and why?
What’s your favourite TV Series?
Where would you like to see your blog in 5 years time?
Do you have anything exciting coming up in the near future?
What’s your favourite way to kill spare time?
What takeaway is your favourite?
If you could star in one TV programme, which one would you choose and why?
The Bloggers I would like to nominate are:
Enjoy, sorry if you’ve already been nominated!

Favourite Blogging Tools

July 6, 2017
When I first started blogging -like many people I’m sure- I had no idea how much time and effort would be required and all the different aspects you have to consider within the blogging world. After stumbling upon apps or being introduced to them through other bloggers, there are a number of trusty apps that I would without a doubt be struggling to blog if these didn’t exist.
Social Media
First things first, Twitter: The first thing I did after setting up my blog was make a twitter account. I knew that a lot of bloggers were using this platform as a way to engage with readers and to promote their posts. Twitter is definitely my favourite platform, as I find it incredibly easy to find other bloggers with similar interests to me and interact with them. Blog chats are great to participate in; they are so much fun and introduce you to bloggers you wouldn’t have otherwise come across.  For me, it’s important to have the same name as your blog across all social media as it makes it so much easier for people to find you that way.
Oh, the dreaded Instagram. Where to start on this one.. I think it’s fair to say that I do really enjoy using Instagram, despite it’s horrendous algorithms and passion to truly ruin any sort of organic growth, but that’s a rant for another time. Although proving difficult to build up an audience due to the follow/unfollow game, this platform is a really great way for people to visualise your blog and the writer(s) behind it. You are able to show readers a glimpse of your life and things you love, whilst discovering new products and new blogs you love. One thing I am really enjoying is participating in Instagram Pods. I’m not going to go into too much detail but I have a full post on these here!
Favourite Blogging Tools - Insta
Follow me – @sazsinclair
I’m going to include Pinterest in this post as I’m aware it can be a very powerful tool to increase traffic to your blog. Having only set this up yesterday, I am newer than a newbie on a new day, but I’m excited to see how this platform can contribute to my blog. Part of me does wish I had set this up sooner, however starting to blog can be very daunting and there were a lot of other things to concentrate on, so I am going to be putting effort in to growing my following on Pinterest and using it to the best of it’s ability!
Buffer is a great way to keep interactive on Twitter even when you’re busy. As I work full-time, It’s hard for me to constantly write tweets/promote blog posts every hour of the day however this app makes it possible. Every morning I schedule a number of tweets to post through the day to make sure I am active on twitter all the time. I do take time during the day to respond to tweets and engage with followers, although this is an easy way to keep your followers posted when you can’t get to your phone! The free version allows you to schedule up to 10 tweets per day and you are able to choose the times you want them to be posted. This app is a no brainer for me and I would say it’s a big factor on driving traffic to my blog as I can constantly put my links on to twitter.
Ready to beat the follow/unfollow game? Have these apps readily available at ALL times. Followers+ and TwitFollow are now almost an addiction. It’s essential to know those accounts that instantly unfollow because personally, I don’t see why someone should carry on supporting somebody else if they have been rude enough to unfollow you straight away!
Favourite Blogging Tools - Naked HEAT
Favourite Blogging Tools - Urban Decay
Last but not least, is my trusty photo editing app Colorstory. Now I have to confess that all of my photos are taken on my Iphone. I have tried using a camera and it was just too big and difficult to get my head around that I just thought shove it and carried on with my phone. The quality in photos is a massive difference and definitely something that I’d consider in the future but for now I love this little app. It’s perfect for brightening photo’s and sharpening them up! Here’s a couple of photo’s I’ve edited on this app – I think the outcomes are amazing!

Another added bonus to all these Apps is that they are all free!! What Apps do you use to keep your blog in order?

An Open Letter

June 18, 2017

To Dad..

I was 5 years old. I hadn’t really grasped the concept of family, however at the time all I knew was that I was quite happy with my mum and I did not want a strange man in my house telling me what to do. I do have to apologise about the time I put the hamster in your bedroom whilst you were sleeping.. But like I said, I really didn’t want a strange man in my house telling me what to do. At first I have to admit, it was a bit of a shock as I went from getting everything I wanted to being told ‘no’, which weren’t words in my bratty vocabulary at that point in time.

I have no idea how I remember the day I asked if I could call you dad so clearly. I was young, and don’t have many memories except I 100% remember standing in the kitchen after being told we were moving house.. Moving house with you. I whispered to mum ‘Can I call him Dad now’ and after her telling me to ask you myself, I popped you the question. It wasn’t such a big deal back then but now I look back and cherish that moment, at that time I wanted you to be my dad, we were moving in as an actual family and I had stopped hating you (a little less than before, anyway).

An Open Letter.. me and dad
You stood in when no one else was there, and joined a family containing a stubborn yet smart, well determined lady with a bratty, attitudinal daughter – I do have to congratulate you on that one!! Me and mum, we are definitely not the easiest people on the planet but you love us unconditionally, even if you’d have probably preferred me out of the picture most of the time! I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for us both, and more so helped us to achieve.
I can’t begin to imagine what life would be like without you in it. You’re the one that does all the DIY, you deal with all the creepy crawlies, you clean out the shower when my hair blocks up the drain, you deal with all our electronics when we break them, you are my personal dad-nav whenever I get lost, you’re the one I used to sing Mustang Sally with every time we drove somewhere, you always tell the most un-funny dad jokes, and best of all, you’re the one I can have a mega dance off with after a couple of drinks. Oh, you are also highly embarrassing too. I guess that’s your job, plus payback for all the attitude I used to throw your way.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that, you’re okay I suppose. When/If you read this, please stop making gagging noises, this isn’t in any shape or form a sign that I love you, I still and always will dislike you.

Happy Father’s day, dad. You’re the best xx

Blogging Tips: What I’ve Learnt

June 1, 2017

All it takes to be a blogger is an Iphone, a few primark t-shirts and a co-operative boyfriend right?? Lol. If only..

Since starting this little blog three months ago, I can’t believe how much I have learnt in such a short amount of time. There is definitely a misunderstood aura around blogging as a lot of people who don’t do it, have no idea what we do in order to keep our blog and social media growing. Before starting, I honestly had no idea how time consuming blogging would be although I do actually love that I spend so much time on it. It really takes my mind off things and allows me to escape into a whole other world. Don’t get me wrong, I am a small time blogger who still has an awful lot to learn, but here’s what I’ve picked up so far..
Interaction with other bloggers is crucial

If you’re not going to spend time speaking and promoting other bloggers, step away now! I can’t believe how many lovely people are out there in the blogging community. Since day 1, everybody has been so welcoming but it’s important to spread the love back too. Take the time to reply to people’s tweets, retweet their new posts and you shall get the same back in return. You are likely to find so many other bloggers with similar interests to you which will make things so much more enjoyable! This also relates to the instagram platform too. I find it really beneficial to go through hashtags and like other people’s photos as they usually return the like and sometimes even follow. The more time you put into interaction on social media, the more you get out of it!

Keep active on your social media

There are so many social media platforms out there to utilise for your blog. Personally, I use Instagram and Twitter which I find the most effective. I would love to try Pinterest but I have no idea how that works, and I feel my blog is far too small to move to Facebook just yet. It’s important to keep active so that your followers always have you in sight to keep a steady count of followers. If you stop posting for a period of time, followers may become bored or think the account is no longer in use so may unfollow.

Blogger chats are your best friend!

Honestly, I look forward to blogger chats all day. There are so, so many and if you ask around there are multiple timetables bloggers have created (you angels) where you can see each chat that is happening every night. Some of my favourites include @thebloggers_hub chat and @GRLPOWRCHAT. These are chats hosted by a particular twitter handle, where you can engage with other followers and you have a certain amount of questions within the hour. It’s a really great way to meet new bloggers and it’s super fun to participate in. I have each chat logged in my phone calender, which reminds me every night which chat is live so I can join in when I’m available!

Join an Instagram Pod

Instagram Pods are groups of 15 people where you let the group know everytime you post, and they like/comment on your photos. Comments are important as Instagram rate comments highly and those with the most amount of comments are likely to be shown higher up in your follower’s timeline. I’m sure you’re all aware of the dreaded instagram algorithm (grrr, don’t even get me started). If you’re in a couple of these like me, you have to be consistent and make sure you are keeping up, however it’s a great way to beat the algorithm, and you are able to like and support other bloggers who support you, and find accounts you love! I have met so many lovely people through Insta pods and it has really boosted my engagement! (Read a more detailed explanation of Instagram Pods here)

Be yourself

It’s important to write because you want to, and not because you feel that you have to. Write whatever YOU want to write, this is your little corner of the blog and nobody else’s. You shouldn’t have to feel that you have to write a certain type of post on a certain topic, if it’s not you then don’t try to pretend, because it will show. On here, I write about literally anything and everything that comes into my head, and that’s the way I like it because I don’t feel any pressure to write a specific type of post that I don’t feel passionate about. On social media, be as normal as possible and really let your personality shine through. That’s what your followers want, to see more of you on your blog!

What are the top things you’ve picked up from blogging?

5 Things I’d Tell My Teenage Self

May 22, 2017

Unlike a lot of people, I was actually one of those girls that loved going to school. Don’t get me wrong, some of the lessons didn’t half bore me to death but in general it was never a place I hated going. Saying that, there are so many things I would love to tell my teenage self (ya know, all the things your mum told you that you ignored because you thought you knew best?…)

1) Not everybody is going to like you, and that’s ok.

This is so bloody important. Yes Sarah, you’ve always been the kind of girl to get on with everybody, talk to just about anybody who will listen and moving schools around 8 times when you were younger meant making friends was thankfully never a difficult task. It’s natural to care what people think about you, especially at such a young age but just because one person has fallen out with you, does not mean the whole world is against you, drama queen… It’s important to remember that every single person in the world has a completely different personality, and not all of them are going to fit alongside yours. You will soon find an amazing bunch of people who you will instantly bond with, and then it honestly won’t matter that the girl you’ve never spoken to apparently doesn’t like you. Her loss anyway, am I right??

2) Not getting a full set of A* results does not mean you aren’t going to be successful.

Please don’t even get me started on how much you will begin to loathe the education system. The constant drilling of having to do exceptionally well to get into university, get amazing jobs and to do well in life is draining. Some people just suck at exams (and im afraid you will be one of them – sorry!). Justifying everybody by the same exam when everybody’s mind works in different ways is just absurd. The only thing you should be aiming to do is your best. Motivation, drive and lots of determination will take you very far in this world, I promise!

3) Save your money!

I say this as the 20 year old girl who decided she would love to move out but will never have sufficient funds to do so. Honestly, how do people afford all off these adult bills? Buy a piggy bank. Put your pennies in. Save that god damn money. That pair of Louboutin’s you have wanted for so long are not going to pay for themselves I’m afraid!

4) Don’t wish your life away.

You may think you can’t wait to turn 18 & 21, but trust me on this one, you can. Cherish all the moments you have when you’re younger, no bills, no responsibilities, they’re the best years ever. Enjoy not having to spend all your wages on Jager bombs, that time will come. Enjoy school, and most of all enjoy seeing your friends everyday!!! When they all go to university you will realise how much you took for granted them always being around.

5) Regardless of what you may think, you are not always right.

Slightly hypocritical maybe, for the girl who would realise her point is wrong and still continue to argue the point, but hey ho. When your mum tries to steer you away from blonde highlights, Helly Hanson jackets, chino’s and multiple bad hair choices, please for the love of god just listen to her. She does actually have your best interests at heart whether you think she’s just being mean or not.

What would you tell your younger self?
Lots of Love,

 Love Yourself

May 7, 2017

‘You will never look like that girl in the magazine. Hell, the girl in the magazine doesn’t even look like the girl in the magazine’

Body image is absolutely everywhere. On the streets, in the magazines, on the TV.. you can’t really escape from it. The harsh expectation that girls should all have flat stomachs, a thigh gap and fit in to size 0 clothes is haunting us in every direction. I’ve never been a really small, petite girl and I never will be, my body just is not built that way. I’ve also never particularly thought myself as fat, either. In the past, luckily I’ve never had any major problems with my weight. I wasn’t ‘skinny’, I wasn’t ‘fat’ – I was just an average size for a teenage girl (or so I thought until my wii fit told me I was overweight. Damn thing hasn’t been out in years since..).

Like a lot of people, I’ve had the odd passing comment about my weight which never really bothered me until recently. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t look at myself and ‘God Sarah, you’re huge!’, but I have been putting on weight for the past few months which is starting to eat away at me. Tonight, I start the gym which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while but I’ve never really had the confidence. Okay rewind, confidence to go to the gym?! That sounds quite silly. I used to do loads of exercise up until starting a full-time job and now that I don’t do as much I just feel like I’m going to stand out like a sore thumb when everyone’s easily working out with their amazing bodies and I’m struggling to reach 200 steps on the walking machine (okay a little exaggerated.. but you get where I’m coming from).

It suddenly dawned on me on holiday (a hen party weekend) that I was the least body confident I have ever been. I was suddenly the girl who didn’t want to get into her bikini because she felt too big for it so spent the day covered up instead. Er, who is this girl?! And where did these expectations come from.. not cool! I’ve never moaned about weight, I think it’s quite a hit and miss subject because if you hate your body you’re ‘attention seeking’ and if you love your body you’re ‘self absorbed’ – ugh what a load of crap.

Love Yourself - teaching girls

Small reminder that whether you’re a size 6 or a size 14, you’re beautiful. Wear what you want, eat what you want, exercise as much as you want. If you’re feeling confident within yourself, you’re winning at life. If you’re not feeling confident? There’s tonnes of time to change that. Whether it’s starting the gym, starting a new hobby, eating healthier, you’ve got this. YOU have all the control in the world over your body and what it looks like. Find that body you’re confident in and love the hell out of it.

Much love,

S x

Hen Weekend Antics

May 2, 2017

Hola Amor!

Thank goodness for google translate on that one.. I did actually do Spanish at GCSE however the only thing I can remember how to say is ‘Cockroaches in the bathroom’ – I’m sure someday this phrase will come in super handy right??

Anyway I thought I’d start in Spanish as I arrived home from Spain yesterday (boooo) and I want to update you all on how much of a fabulous weekend I’ve had. As you’ll have seen on my previous blog post, I was invited on a hen weekend to Magaluf with a whopping 25 hens.

Hen Weekend Antics - Hens

Now first things first, I had absolutely nothing to worry about in terms of not knowing anybody – what an incredible bunch of ladies! I don’t tend to have problems with meeting people as I usually to talk to anybody who listens and I do work with customers but I think when you’re abroad and with the same people constantly for a couple of days I felt a little bit more pressure to settle in within the group. I can honestly say I think I’ve made a couple of friends for life and I am very excited to be seeing them all again in a couple of weeks for Chloe’s big day!

What I would like to say is that I actually thought Magaluf was beautiful. Obviously, the strip was nothing special but the view from our hotel room was absolutely spectacular. The rooms looked straight out to sea – there was no land between us which was a little scary at first. The hotel we stayed in was Universal Florida Hotel which was only a short walk from the main strip however it was up a massive hill so we all came home with very achy bones. The food was absolutely delicious and once we got there we decided to upgrade to all inclusive which was a real bargain as all we did was eat and drink cocktails all day – one San Francisco please!

Hen Weekend Antics - Room View

We had three nights out altogether and went in all the cheesy bars – who doesn’t love a bit of cheese on a night out?? The second night was Disney night where everyone dressed up as different characters. I had an absolute nightmare with my Pocahontas outfit (the more you read of my blog, the more you will realise how clumsy I am and that something always goes wrong for me) – but the girls perked me up and I ended up having a brilliant night. Each bar we went in kept playing Disney songs for us and we got so many brilliant comments. Chloe looked absolutely beautiful – she had dressed up as Rapunzel with an amazing replica wig and a super gorgeous dress. It’s no surprise that she had won the Best Dressed at the award ceremony!

On the last day one of the hens had planned for us to go to a Cocktail making class. In all honesty, we were all absolutely beaten from the previous two nights out that we didn’t really have much energy but once we got there we had such a fabulous time. The bar lady made 5 different cocktails for us all to try and then we got to make our own. I went for a classic ‘Sex on the Beach’ and it was so yummy – even though I really didn’t feel like drinking at this point!

Hen Weekend Antics - Cocktail Making

This will be a weekend I remember for such a long time. The maid on honour, the bridesmaid’s and Chloe’s sister and mother had done such an amazing job at arranging everything for us, which I think is amazing as it must be so hard with a group of 25!

Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday!

S x

*A big thank you for all the hens posting pictures in the group chat so I could upload a couple on here. My phone memory is full to the brim so I couldn’t take any photo’s all holiday!

 April Favourites

April 27, 2017

Hola lovelies! Today I thought I’d share with you just what I’ve being loving this month. I love reading about what people’s favourites are so I thought I’d share mine with you. I think there will be a little bit of everything in here from beauty to music as there are so many things I have been digging recently. Here goes..

April Favourites - St. Moriz Tan1) St. Moriz tan. As a very very naturally pale girl, there is just something about having a good tan on and actually being a normal colour for once. I’m always skeptical about trying a new tanning product as I don’t want it to look really fake, I prefer a more natural looking tan which this product is perfect for! The one I use is the St. Moriz Fast Tanning Mousse. I love this because you have control over how dark you want to be by leaving on for either 1,2 or 3 hours. The first time I used this I went for one hour to see what kind of colour. After rinsing in the shower you could tell that I had a slight glow but it wasn’t as dark as I wanted to be. The following day I left on for 3 hours and was left with the most gorgeous, natural looking, NO STREAK tan that I was so so impressed with. I would say the only con about this product is having to wait to wash it off however some of the other products in the range don’t require this process.  Definitely a must have over the summer months to keep a natural looking glow!

April Favourites - Jack Savoretti

2) Okay so, not only is this man one of the best looking people I’ve ever laid eyes on, his voice is just oh my god. I am definitely loving Jack Savoretti’s music right now, he reminds me a lot of Paolo Nutini who is one of my all time favourites. His voice is kind of soothing/husky I can’t even explain you just need to listen to him! I have playlists for everything – and I mean everything – so his voice sits perfectly alongside the likes of Paolo/ Ben Howard in my chill album. His whole album ‘Sleep No More’ is just amazing. You guys should totally check him out, It baffles me that most people have never even heard of him. I mean hey, who doesn’t love an Italian man with an amazing voice?!

April Favourites - L'Oreal Foundation

3) If you’re a blogger and you haven’t heard of this foundation, where on earth have you been for the past few months?! This product has got to be one of the most spoken about foundation’s in a while – everywhere I look there’s another review. If you saw my makeup wishlist you’d know that I’ve been wanting to try this foundation out for a while now. In all honesty, I’ve never really been a fan of L’Oreal foundations so I was slightly skeptical however the reviews had mostly been amazing so I’d have been a fool to not give this a try. The end result is – I absolutely love it!!! I find it hard to find a full coverage foundation to cover my freckles that doesn’t leave me feeling like I have a full tin of paint sitting on my face (Because I totally know what that feels like…). I was really happy with the feel/coverage of this foundation and found it was super easy to blend in to my face. I didn’t struggle to find a matching colour and the price isn’t anything to moan about either! I think this is what you would call a win/win situation. I have a full review on this product here!

April Favourites - TIGI

4) Okay so, I don’t know about anybody else but I have to switch my hair products up every couple of months in order to keep my hair feeling amazing. I’m not sure exactly what it is, I pretty much swap between 3 brands so it’s not as if I discover a life changing product but I find when I change around my hair feels sooo good – I think it just has a mind of it’s own and gets bored of the same old. Atm, I’m loving TIGI Bed Head it leaves my hair super silky and so shiny. A lot of shampoo’s completely dry my hair out which I hate so trying new shampoo’s etc is such a big deal for me (drama queen). This duo I can always rely on, especially since I have such long thick hair a good shampoo and conditioner is mandatory!!

So they’re my April Favourite’s at the moment. What are you loving?

Life Update..

April 20, 2017

Hey guys!!

I haven’t posted in over a week and I feel as though I’m definitely missing out on something. So much has happened over bank holiday (as you’ll have seen in my last blog post), but additional to that, I also went to choose a car which I picked up yesterday – eeeeek, it’s beyond beautiful and I can’t stop looking at it! My mum also opened her nursery on Tuesday and coming back to work was super hectic. I’ve just completely exhausted myself so haven’t had much time to sit down and focus on my blog sadly. I’m pretty much always a busy bee, which most definitely doesn’t help when I suffer from anaemia but I like to keep busy and on my toes which is why I have the best few weeks coming up ever.
Wednesday 26th April: ED SHEERAN. Do I really need to say anything more?? There were 3 of us girls trying to get Ed tickets and luckily Daniella managed to get us amazing seats for Nottingham Arena (If anybody is going, come say hi!). I’ve never seen Ed Sheeran before so I’m super excited, I think the talent he holds is just extraordinary, every song is just captivating and I can’t wait to hear the new album live. It’s also the first actual place I’ll be going in my car so I’m excited to pick my girlies up and take them for a spin!

Friday 28th April: Magaluf – Hen do. I was really really excited when Chloe invited me on her hen do, I think it’s such a nice feeling to be asked and felt really privileged. There’s 23 of us altogether (so watch out spain!!!) and I’m the baby of the group. Chloe is also super Disney mad so we’ve got a Disney themed night where I’m going as Pocahontas. I love this idea and can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing! We are going for four days and it’s going to be a blast. It’s come around so fast I really need to think about starting to pack..

Saturday 6th May: The Vamps. Now I haven’t told you all much about my obsession with The Vamps. They are my favourite boys ever and I’m such a fan girl when it comes to them. I’ve seen them live around 17 times now (I’ve lost count) and met them twice. I almost freaked out when Connor Ball was sat a few rows behind us at Capital Jingle Bell Ball, I had to act super casual but I was texting everybody I knew freaking out on the inside. We started buying wow pit tickets for the last couple of shows and in all honesty I will never ever go back to normal seats. We’ve never had bad seats for a concert and always have been within the first couple of rows so we are really lucky. It’s such an amazing atmosphere in there and everyone is so friendly (the close up pictures are also a bonus too).

Life Update.. Connor Ball

Saturday 13th May: The Vamps. What a surprise! We never go to just one tour date. We’re going to Manchester and London however we also wanted Birmingham but we couldn’t get any wow pit tickets. Last April we did 2 London wow pit days one after the other and it was such a good weekend I will never forget it!

Thursday 18th May: Ariana Grande. Oh my goodness I can’t even put in to words how excited I am. Ariana slayssss my life and anybody that says they don’t fancy her a bit is most likely lying. Her new album is the sassiest and I honestly think she is so underrated. I actually saw Ariana live last summer at Capital Summertime Ball and I knew a few songs but felt a bit like the odd one out as everybody went absolutely crazy for her – I now know why!

As you can see I have a lot to look forward to in the next couple of weeks which are mostly concert based. I love tours and festivals, I think live music is such a good atmosphere and also a fab way to make friends!

What do you have coming up in the next few weeks?

Bank Holiday Plans

April 13, 2017

Not sure about you guys but I love a good bank holiday break – who doesn’t?! Don’t get me wrong I love my job but all my best friends are back from uni (which I obviously don’t get to see in the day) and this weekend one of my best friends is also coming all the way from London too so I am super excited about getting to spend some time with them all! Dad has been kind enough to give us the full four days off – hallelujah – so this is how I’m going to be spending them:

– First thing’s first, post office. My Ariana Grande tickets tried to be delivered today and nobody was in to collect them so I need to go pick them up for the post office. They were supposed to arrive yesterday so boo you royal mail!!

– Pick my friend up from the train station. As I mentioned earlier she’s coming all the way from London to spend back holiday with me. Is she the best or is she the best? She’s the best. We’re going for some lunch at possibly Thaymar’s which is a really cute little cafe known for it’s amazing ice cream. I’m sort of praying it’s really good weather so I can eat my body weight in coconut ice cream without anybody giving me weird looks because it’s freezing cold (which is usually the case).

– Last of all is a good old spoons social. You’ve probably guessed by the name that this is Wetherspoon’s. I’m not actually that keen on Wetherspoon’s (hoping the spoons social crew don’t see this or I’ll probably get uninvited), but when it comes to cheap drinks and a whole bunch of you playing Gentlemen Spoofers, I can make an acception. For all of you wondering what Gentlemen Spoofers is, I really can’t tell you – that would get me in serious trouble!

– Hopefully I will feel as fresh as a daisy when I wake up as it’s my mum’s opening day for her new nursery from 9-3. And yep, you’ve guessed it.. there’s going to be lots of screaming kids on bouncy castle’s which is not ideal if I end up with a hangover. After endless months of hard work, I am so excited to show everyone what my mum has managed to achieve, renovating an old, derelict village hall in to the most amazing nursery you will ever see. My mum is actually the most fabulous, determined woman ever and deserves all the success in the world.

– After finishing at the nursery I’m sure there’ll be an enormous amount of Prosecco on tap to celebrate. We have family and friends travelling a long way to join us, which will be amazing. This starts the beginning of my night, where quite a few of us are going to Lincoln to start the Bank Holiday off the right way!

– Again, here I am praying I wake up with a clear head again. Usually a good pizza and a pint of water does me a world of good but you can never be too sure. Today is beach day. We’ve had some absolutely glorious weather recently (touch wood) so hopefully the weather will be kind to us! We’ve got a couple of options, I think Whitby is top of our choice so far – hoping it’s as glorious as The Maldives.. A girl can dream..

The Maldives Bank Holiday Plans

– Another Bank Holiday Sunday. Another night out in Lincoln. Yes you heard correct, three nights out in a row, goodbye positive bank balance!! There’s not much more to say about this, other than I’m looking forward to the 3 hour getting ready session, lots of jager bombs and a bbq chicken pizza at the end of the night!!

– Rest day. A full day of doing absolutely nothing. I think we all know I’m going to need this whole day to recover from these antics. I’ll probably spend the day watching Netflix with a pizza crying about all the stupid things I said on my nights out. Hey ho, that’s what being 20 is all about right?

What are your plans this weekend? Hope you all have the bank holiday you deserve!

My experience living with migraines

April 5. 2017
I can’t believe it’s April 5th – where has this year gone!!! I want to start by saying a massive thank you to everyone that’s taken the time to read my posts. My blog turned 1 month old a couple of days ago and the support and love everyone has shown is absolutely crazy, so thanks to all you fab people!!

I was pretty skeptical about writing this post as I wanted to stay quite positive on here however as it’s such a personal matter and there are so many sufferers out there, I thought it would be interesting to share my story with migraines. I’ve seen a couple of bloggers share different personal problems and seen others get some benefit out of them, so here goes!

Since around the age of 13/14, I have suffered with migraines which absolutely just drain the life out of me. The first time I ever experienced this I was home alone, it was really scary and I pretty much spent the whole day passed out in bed. There’s three stages to my migraines which I will explain in more detail..

First stage: Lots of weird things start to happen. Every single time before the headache from hell arrives, my eyes blur. It’s so disorientating and you just have to wait for your eyes to stop making stupid patterns so you can tell your mum how many fingers she’s holding up. Then the other symptoms kick in, but these are a little more hit and miss (depending on what the migraine decides to throw at me on this particular day); all the left-hand side of my body goes numb or my speech starts to slur (i.e. telling my dad I need sheep instead of sleep). Sometimes it’s awful when these things occur because you basically sit around and wait for the headache to kick in. I do however have a couple of sets of tablets I can choose to take when my eyes blur and on a rare occasion, they can actually stop the headache. I must be somewhat unlucky because this is really, really rare.

Second stage: Wahooo, the headache stage! Long story short, it pretty much feels like you are being stabbed in the head repeatedly. My eyes start to hurt, and all I want to do is crawl in to a black hole until it all goes away (a little dramatic maybe Sarah..). But seriously, a dark room and a big duvet are my go to’s when these little so and so’s crop up. I find laying down a lot more painful so I pile up the majority of pillows in my house and prop myself up so that I am sat upright. The awkward bit is moving your head to every possible position known to man in order to find the most comfortable place, and then to fall asleep. Occasionally, my migraine likes to throw some sickness in to the equation and if its feeling particularly bitchy, it causes me to pass out.

Third stage: So after a couple of hours worth of sleep, I finally wake up headache free!!!! Or so I would like to think, anyway. By this point it’s mostly gone and I can actually get up and do things with whatever is left of the day. The only thing now is that if I move drastically, such as go to pick something up for the floor or walk any faster than a tortoise, my head starts to hurt. It’s like a post-migraine headache, the ‘HA you thought you got rid of me but surprise I’m actually still here!!’ kind of headache. It’s a little annoying but at least I can focus on something more than sleeping.

I went through a stage a few years back where I had 14 migraines in 16 days. I would wake up early hours of the morning with blurred vision, be out until around lunch time and then after a few hours get another one. The hospital asked my school to call an ambulance as soon as I started getting symptoms so that they could monitor what was happening but after an MRI scan and numerous tests, the only solution they had was to put me on anti-depressants (at 14 years old… no thanks!) and to monitor my diet. I haven’t yet managed to really pinpoint a trigger that sets them off, but I tend to avoid chocolate and don’t drink tea anymore. There is a possible to link to stress as they did crop up during exams and just before my driving test (grrrr) but that definitely isn’t the only cause of them. They are a lot less frequent now then they were in younger years but I still absolutely dread them coming.

I have of course tried lots of different things that have been suggested to me to try and ease the pain but if you have had migraines before and something has worked, pleaaase let me know in the comments! Have any of you ever had migraines/ had a similar experience? This is actually an area which intrigues me as it’s such an open topic that everybody’s case seems to be a little different, so I’d really love to know!!

Sorry about suchhhh a boring, wordy post!

University does NOT define you!

March 20, 2017
She believed she could so she did - University
Another Monday has arrived (yawn) and it’s safe to say I woke up veryyy late this morning. Thankfully, I work for my dad so I have a teeny tiny bit of leeway if I happen to be late once or twice. I’ve had such a busy week/weekend and honestly haven’t stopped so I really have exhausted myself out! **Maybe I should take some of my own advice from my previous blog post
Recently, I’ve had lots of questions asking which university I go to…. I don’t go, nor have I ever wanted to go to university – it just never really appealed to me. When I left school 2 years ago, all my friends left to go to different Uni’s and I felt a bit lost. I was forever going here there and everywhere (Leeds, Liverpool, London etc) to visit them and I absolutely loved visiting, but I also loved coming home. When I first left school, I bagged myself an apprenticeship within a really successful business, however I felt college was just like being back in school and didn’t feel I was pushing myself within my job. I decided at Christmas 2015 that I was going to leave the apprenticeship and the job as it wasn’t for me. I was already working part-time at the pub in my village but other than that I didn’t have anything so I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to pay for my car etc. I was really lucky when my dad asked me to help in his business a couple of days as he had been so busy and inundated with paperwork he hadn’t had chance to deal with everything. My dad’s business became more and more successful and as I had spent 3 years in a restaurant, I was already such a people person. Slowly I merged in to dealing with customers (some of which were very difficult), working full time (!!!), and taking on extra jobs like designing websites and doing all the business’ marketing. It was something I really enjoyed and was really good at –If I do say so myself- and it just worked so well. I get a lot of comments such as ‘wow I couldn’t work with my dad you’re doing so well’ but in actual fact we get on so well and always have a laugh so it’s perfect (apart from when he shouts at me for singing 24/7.. who allowed a radio in the office?!). When I mention that I work in a family business a lot of people turn their nose up and think it’s such a copout job – It’s actually far from it. I work ridiculously hard to maintain relationships with customers, make sure all my jobs are done and keep on top of everything – there is no slacking allowed.. else me and dad would definitely argue!. I work longer hours than a lot of people my age including Saturdays, and it’s also an hour’s drive from home so it’s quite a demanding job.
I also receive lots of comments such as ‘Oh, you decided against university?’ or ‘You aren’t going to earn as much if you don’t have a degree’.. AGHHH this annoys me so much because this is so far from the truth. Of course, people that go to university work hard to get their degrees and can go on to get some fabulous jobs. Some jobs even require degrees, but this does not mean you can’t do well without them. For example, my dad has no qualifications what so ever and runs a really successful garage. My mum left University with a law degree, that she got a really good job with but now she has nothing to do with law and is in Childcare with no degree in this area, and is doing even better than she was in law. Sometimes, it’s who you know and not what you know that can get you really good jobs (as well as having the right attitude towards work). But most of all, it’s about working hard. If you work hard, strive to achieve, you can get anything you put your mind to. Deciding against University is NOT anything to be ashamed of, nor is it a bad life decision. University does not make you more successful, it does not make you any more of a person and it definitely does not define you. Do more of what makes you happy and go with your heart. Deciding what path you want to go down can be tricky but you will eventually find something you love so boss it every step of the way and reach for the stars.

When life gives you lemons..

March 15, 2017
Love yourself when life gives you lemons
The past couple of days have been absolutely hectic – I honestly haven’t stopped. I’ve been trying to cram so much in to my days and there honestly will never be enough hours for everything I would like to get done. There comes a point where you try to do too much and it exhausts you both physically and mentally – at this point it’s time to relax and focus on yourself for a little while. It’s so easy to get caught up with so many other people that you’re often left thinking ‘When was the last time I did anything for myself?’ I’ve always been the kind of person to put others before myself and I probably always will be. Of course there is absolutely nothing with that as long as you also find time for yourself. At this point, I start to think about what I can do to focus on myself so I can feel 100% again:
Don’t spend too much time on social media
Social Media holds a massive part in my life as I’m sure it does with many other people. It has its perks but unfortunately also has its downfalls. I find myself spending so much time seeing how wonderful everybody else’s life is (or the parts they want to share) and comparing, wishing that my life was like theirs. This is literally a big fat no. Just because everyone’s life looks hunky-dory (Typing out this word feels weird) online doesn’t mean there aren’t things happening in the background getting them down too. Life throws hurdles at everybody in different ways and you are definitely not on your own. Don’t spend too much time dwelling on everyone else’s life.. Put your phone down and focus on yourself. Another thing with social media is that there is always so much drama. There’s so many ‘indirects’ and shade being thrown around 24/7 that you often get caught up in something that doesn’t even have anything to do with you. It’s so easy to be lead in to a situation but these things tend to end up having a negative impact on your life. Keeping yourself to yourself is the best way to go and remember – ‘lowkey is key’!
Venice: Life and lemons
Don’t be afraid to have some ‘you’ time
Run that bubble bath.. Order that pizza and finish that bottle of Prosecco. Being with friends is always a good feeling and leaves you in a good mood afterwards, but there is no denying that a good old pamper will bring those spirits back up. There is nothing better than sitting in a bubble bath with a glass of prosecco, a face mask on watching netflix knowing that a dominos pizza is coming your way. On this night, do more of what makes you happy. Get those old school classics on, get your tanning mitts at the ready and pay some attention to your eyebrows. I can guarantee you that you will wake up in the morning feeling so much better about yourself.
Talk it out
When life gets in the way, there is nothing better than a good old rant about it. Let some steam out and even have a little cry – it honestly does make things better. Whether it’s with family or friends, talking through things often brings to light that problems aren’t as bad as you think they are. It’s also nice to know that you aren’t alone in these situations, there will always be people there for you. A problem shared is a problem halved.
They are definitely my three go-to’s when life gives me too many lemons. Are there any particular things you do when it all just gets too much?

A little bit about me..

March 5, 2017

Get to know a little bit about me tag

Hey Guys! I’ve absolutely loved writing the first two posts on my blog but this time I thought I’d do something a little bit different. Since I’m so new to the blogging world, you don’t really know much about me! I’ve answered a 25 Questions Tag so you can get to know me a little better! Here goes..

Question 1: Do you have any pets?
I have a cockapoo puppy called Harvey and he is SO cute!! This was him when we first got him Christmas eve 2015 – He looks exactly the same just a little bit bigger.

Harvey - Cockapoo : A little bit about me..
Question 2: Name three things that are physically close to you.
My blanket, my pup, and my laptop.
Question 3: What’s the weather like right now?
Right now, it’s so cold outside. I can’t wait for spring to arrive so it starts getting a lot warmer – I have so many pieces in my wardrobe waiting for spring!
Question 4: Do you drive? If so, have you crashed?
I do drive yes. I passed my driving test 2 and a half years ago (wow, I didn’t actually realise it was this long since!) I did crash 3 months after I passed my driving test. It was December and as I live in the countryside, there are a lot of country lanes. This particular morning the roads weren’t icy but one road was covered in black ice. My car started sliding to the other side of the road, I panicked and yanked my steering wheel the opposite way. The next thing my car was rolling and I ended up hitting a bush and sliding back out into the middle of the road on the roof. I crawled out of the smashed back window luckily without any injuries at all – I was very lucky.
Question 5: What time did you wake up this morning?
I woke up around 10 AM. Yesterday was a long day.. after going to my usual work in the morning, my afternoon was filled with painting and decorating my mum’s new nursery which is due to open at the end of the month. After a full afternoon of decorating, I then went to babysit with my friend. Safe to say when I got home last night it didn’t take long for me to fall asleep!
Question 6: When was the last time you showered?
About ten minutes ago. Again, today we have spent the day painting the nursery so I was absolutely covered in paint. There was almost as much paint on me as there is on the walls.
Question 7: What was the last movie that you saw?
The last film I watched was Erin Brockovich. Julia Roberts plays the main character fantastically and it’s based on a true story. It was really eye opening and I really enjoyed it.
Question 8: What does your last text message say?
Chicken legend meal – latte x2, Big mac meal – coffee, 3 pc Chicken select meal – coke, Black coffee, Big mac meal – oasis and anything you want x” – I was given the job of getting everybody’s Mcdonald’s order whilst painting today!
Question 9: What is your ringtone?
I’m not completely 100% sure, but I don’t think I’ve specifically changed it so probably the boring one the Iphone comes with!
Question 10: Have you ever been to a different country?
Yes, I’m lucky enough to have travelled to a lot of different places. The most recent ones have been Italy (Venice), America (where we road-tripped from San Francisco, To Los Angeles, To Las Vegas, then flew to Mexico for the week) and Maldives (Hudhuranfushi). One place I am dying to visit is Australia, which I think we are planning for the end of next year.

A little bit about me when I visited Las Vegas

A little bit about me when I visited Venice

Question 11: Do you like sushi?
I’ve only tried sushi a handful of times but I haven’t really loved it.
Question 12: Where do you buy your groceries?
It’s usually my mum that does the shopping but she buys from everywhere. As we live in the countryside, we have to venture out to the shops so there isn’t one which is closer than the rest. If I ever pick bits up, it’s usually the co-op as it’s small and easy.
Question 13: Have you ever taken any medication to help you fall asleep faster?
I haven’t no. I don’t really have any trouble with sleeping, I could nap all day and still go to bed and sleep the whole night – It’s probably not normal the amount I sleep!
Question 14: How many siblings do you have?
I have one half sister called Amber.
Question 15: Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop?
I personally have a laptop, but we do have a desktop which is shared by everyone in the house which I sometimes use.
Question 16: How old will you be turning on your next birthday?
The big 21!! I’ve already started planning the party for my 21st(Not until next February) which I’m really excited about.
Question 17: Do you wear contacts or glasses?
I don’t wear any, I actually have really good eye sight.
Question 18: Do you colour your hair?
I started dying my hair when I was really young (about 10 years old actually). I highlighted and dyed my hair until around a year and a half ago. It started to really damage my hair and although I have a slight hint of ginger when the sun comes out, I really love the colour of my hair now and it’s so much healthier!
Question 19: Tell me something you are planning to do today.
I’m planning on spending the rest of my day chilling out. I’ve set myself up on the sofa with my blanket, my laptop and all my chargers. I’ll probably only move when it’s time for Sunday Dinner!
Question 20: When was the last time you cried?
The other day. I have a lot going on at the moment and it all came crashing down and little things that shouldn’t matter became such big problems.
Question 21: What is your perfect pizza topping?
There is absolutely no doubt about this, definitely Pepperoni!
Question 22: Which do you prefer, hamburger or cheeseburger?
Burgers are something I don’t really care for. I wouldn’t choose to eat either, I’d prefer to eat chicken!
Question 23: Have you ever had an all-nighter?
A couple of times, but when I was younger! When I first started to have sleepovers we used to think it was a massive achievement to be able to stay up all night. Nowadays, I’m lucky to make it past 10!
Question 24: What is your eye colour?
My eyes are hazel.
Question 25: Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke?
100%, I really dislike the taste of Pepsi.

Hope you enjoyed reading, please feel free to leave a comment below!

My March Goals

March 3, 2017
Oh hello my March Goals

March… ALREADY? Wow where is this year going. I feel like it was only last week I was stuffing myself with as much Christmas dinner as possible. I have a lot going on this month so I’m quite looking forward to getting stuck in to everything. I feel it’s important to set yourself goals – whether they be weekly, monthly or yearly. As this month is going to be so busy, there’s a couple of things I’ve signed myself up for that I hope to accomplish:

The ab and squat challenge. Admittedly, I did start this a few days before March but seen as though I’ll be doing it all throughout the month, my top goal is to finish the challenge and hopefully carry on after that too! After finishing school a few years back and starting in a full time job, I had almost forgotten exercise existed and the only form of exercise I do is through ice skating. The morning after doing my first 50 squats, I almost fell flat on my face when I got out of bed. The first two days were torture, my legs kept giving way (yes, that’s how unfit I really am) and seen as though I work with 4 males, I got a lot of stick for it.
Keep only positive people around me. Getting older has taught me that unfortunately, not everyone is who you think they are. The big group of friends you have in school are not going to be there forever – whether they end up in university, working, or just plodding on with life. I’m very fortunate that my close friends are absolute gems (although they are spread across the country!). I make it a priority to ensure that even though some of them are far away, I make time to see them and if not, let them know I am always there for them. My parents are also huge influencers, and push me to grab every opportunity I can with both hands. This is a massive help, as sometimes I tend to shy away from things out of my comfort zone. Having such positive people around me makes getting up each day that little bit easier. It also means I don’t worry about anything and inspires me to do things I love. The ‘No Drama’ lifestyle is definitely the one for me!
Read more. When I was younger, I was a total bookworm. In fact a big part of my wardrobe is filled with boxes and boxes of books I have read (which I really should sort out – oops!). As I’ve become older, I haven’t made time to find new books and spend time reading them. I read really fast and once I start a book, I tend to finish it in one sitting. It’s actually quite annoying as I fly through books, so when I do go on a book haul, I’ve usually finished all of them within a week! This month, there’s a few books I have my eye on. I’ve just finished reading ‘A man called Ove’ and I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite books I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone. I found myself laughing, crying, and emotionally attaching myself to the characters – all signs of a really good book! Hopefully, all the other books I’ve got for this month are going to be just as good of a read.
Organise my makeup. Until around 5/6 months ago, I didn’t really care much for makeup. I was a typical girl who had the basics and did the same look every single day. Since then, I have fallen in love with eye shadow (5 years later than everybody else, I know) and have added a couple of palettes to my selection. I also got some amazing makeup brushes for Christmas which I haven’t kept my hands off since! Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I was having Morphe and ABH products delivered to work on a weekly basis. I have since purchased a little organiser for my dressing table but it is nowhere near big enough! So my aim for this month is to buy more organisers, if anybody has any they love or would recommend, please let me know!
Try my best with this blog! I am very new to the blogging world – and quite frankly, very excited about it. My first night on twitter was so lovely, everyone was so welcoming and I got involved with some of the blog chats which were so fun. I have quite a few ideas of where I want to take this blog and the sort of things I want to talk about. I always loved writing in school and I’ve written bits and pieces in the past so it’s always been something I have loved. Actually, a useless little fact for you – I actually had a poem published in primary school with Young Writer’s – looking back it’s the most embarrassing thing ever!
So there’s my 5 goals for this march. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing! Let me know if you have any goals for this month, or if there’s any books you can recommend for me!

Lots of love,

S x
